Description: The cello is of English origin made in the last half of the 18th century. The top is made of two pieces of spruce of medium width grain at the center broadening to a wide width grain at the flanks. The back is made of two pieces of quarter-cut maple with faint irregular figure. The quarter-cut ribs are maple with narrow width curl. The scroll is of later English origin. The Instrument has two decorative inlays on the back and one on the top. The varnish is a pale golden orange brown color. Measurements: B.L. 74.4 cm U.B. 34.4 C.B. 22.8 L.B. 42.9 |
